NATURAL DURABILITY
A wood of muiracatiara is highly durable, not being attacked by insects or dry-wood termites. In field tests, it exhibited a natural durability of less than seven years. In a marine environment, it was intensely attacked by boring organisms.
WORKABILITY
The muiracatiara wood is easy to work with and allows for an excellent finish. It takes paint and varnish well.
APLICATIONS
Heavy Internal: Rafters, beams, joists.
Light External: Rafters, frames, moldings, slats, battens.
Light Internal: Shutters, doors, frames, casings, windows, cords, moldings, skirting boards, linings, boards, floor tiles, parquet flooring, and furniture.
Other Uses: Decorative sheets, turned pieces, decoration and ornament, cutlery handles, curved or bent pieces, tool handles, agricultural implements, transportation, cooperage.
